Job Openings at the Oregon Fair Trade Campaign

Economic Justice Organizer

The Oregon Fair Trade Campaign (ORFTC) is seeking a part-time organizer based in the Eugene/Springfield area.  ORFTC is a statewide coalition of labor, environmental and human rights organizations working together on international trade and investment policy.  More information about ORFTC is available online at www.oregonfairtrade.org.

The purpose of this position is to strengthen ORFTC’s volunteer base in the region in order to hold policymakers accountable for their positions on trade.  The organizer will be responsible for:

·      supporting and expanding a fledgling trade justice organizing committee in the Eugene/Springfield area;

·      conducting interviews with displaced workers and others hurt by existing trade policies;

·      working with volunteers to organize press events, rallies, “town halls” and the like;

·      making fundraising asks of unions, community organizations and individuals; and

·      conducting other programmatic and administrative work as needed.

All candidates must be self-motivated, work well independently and have at least two years of organizing experience (paid or unpaid).  Strong candidates will be completely comfortable facilitating meetings; organizing events; and developing leadership in volunteers.  Experience with presswork, fundraising, and conducting interviews is a strong plus, as is knowledge of trade issues.  Fluency in Spanish is a very strong plus.

The position is envisioned as 15 hrs/week, and pays a starting salary of $600 - $650/month.  Work hours are flexible.

To apply, please email a cover letter and resume to orftc@citizenstrade.org.  No calls please.
